Want a list of great books for summer reading?

Who has time to read boring books?

Summer is a great time for rejuvenation and relaxation, which, in my case, involves tons of reading. I plow through three or more books a month. But I don't enjoy reading poorly written, uninteresting books. So, I often choose reader-recommended novels and am rewarded with hours of calm escape and entertainment.

Would you like to see the LIST OF NOVELS I RECOMMEND? I will only include the books I found riveting or those written by skilled authors whose prose and plot I savored like a gourmet meal.

And, in case you're a prolific reader, I'll give you the link to my Pinterest Board, "Books to Read," for a bounty of books from which to choose. Again, only the ones that elicited a, "Man, I wish I could write like that!" response made it onto the Pinterest Board. (I'm writing a novel and now reading has become both a blessing and a time for self-reproach. :)

BELOW IS A LIST OF BOOKS I RECOMMEND:

  1. The Nightengale by Kristen Hannah
  2. The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell by Rober Dugoni
  3. The Women by Kristen Hannah (I learned a lot about the war in Vietnam. Reading is my favorite way to learn history and Kristen Hannah is an awesome writer. That said, it took a few chapters to get into this book.)
  4. The Women of Chateau LaFayette by Stephanie Dray
  5. Inez of My Soul (You can read that one in Spanish: Inez del alma mía) by Isabel Allende.
  6. The Last Bookshop in London by Madeline Martin
  7. West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge
  8. Next Year in Havannah by Chanel Cleeton (I learned a lot about Cuba.)
  9. Happiness Falls by Angie Kim (I tagged her in a post and she answered me! I was so excited!)
  10. The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes
  11. Someone Else's Shoes by Jojo Moyes. (I couldn't put it down and it was so funny.)
  12. Before We Were Yours by Lisa Wingate
  13. El murmurro de las abejas by Sofía Segovia (In Spanish: Enjoy reading and keep up your fluency at the same time)
  14. Unbroken by Laura Hellenbrand (True story)
  15. The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray (About J.P. Morgan's personal librarian who was black but passes as white)

Can't get enough? Click on the following link to go to my Pinterest board, "BOOKS TO READ."

BUT I'M ON A BUDGET!

You can still read if your finances are limited. Some members of our book club borrow books from the library. I have bought books inexpensively at the following sites:

Thrift Books

Alibris.com

AbeBooks.com

Have you read any wonderful books lately (or ever) that aren't on the above list or on my Pinterest board? Please email me at altespoir@sbcglobal.net and I'll recommend them to my book club.

I hope you have a relaxing summer.

Blessings,

Angie
